The Journey of an Innovation Practitioner

The Journey of an Innovation Practitioner

ivia_logoWhirlpool Corporation, Beacon Health System and the University of Notre Dame formed an innovation partnership named iVia with the mission to “Build a Better World Through Innovation.” Through this partnership they have instituted 2 offerings centered on their mission: a Certified Innovation Mentor ( program (CIMp) and an annual innovation conference called Innovation – Perspectives from the Front Lines. You may be thinking what does iVia mean?  iVia combines innovation with the word Via which means journey or way thus representing “the way of innovation.”

The goal of the conference is to bring innovation practitioners together to learn, share, explore and shape the industry of innovation and to assist them on their innovation journey. As practitioners we know that innovation, and the building of an innovation competency, is a journey with many roads leading to new discoveries.

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics (PPL) served as co-chair for the very first iVia conference held in November 2014 at the University of Notre Dame’s Chicago campus located at 224 S. Michigan Ave. The feedback was excellent and the event was rich with learning, collaborating and networking. PPL has been asked to co-chair the 2nd Annual iVia conference to be held October 28-29, 2015 in the same location. There will be several experienced innovation practitioners in attendance sharing their approaches to innovation along with the successes and challenges they have faced along the way.

I am honored to represent PPL not only with contributing to content and discussion topics but also to learn from experienced innovation practitioners and leaders and to actively contributing the insights, experiences and best practices of our innovation processes program.

The video below highlights the essence of the conference.  I am sure the 2nd annual conference will be equally impactful to those who attend. If you are interested in learning more about the upcoming conference or want to register, please check out the official site:
